Strathaven today offers the visitor pleasant parks with a variety of activities for young and old alike. While the Common Green whose buildings date back to the 1880s house a variety of shops.

The history of the area is recorded in the John Hastie Museum and the castle acts as a reminder of the importance of the town in earlier years.

For the more adventurous try the walks along the banks of the Powmillion to the waterfall known as the Specticle E'e

Strathaven has reached the final round in the Beautiful Scotland competition in the last few years thanks to the Strathaven in Bloom group.
