There is a walk round the town passing key buildings including the "Purlie" Wilson monument. James Wilson was a Strathaven weaver who was executed for his part in the radical uprising of 1820. The monument was erected on the site of his house in North Street in 1846

There is also a pleasant 2 mile walk from Strathaven to Sandford via the Avon Water to the Specticle E'e waterfall.
